Today Morse, McBride and York started for the Siwash camp to see if they could buy a canoe. They returned about 5 pm with a small dug-out for which they paid $10 and $1 more for a paddle. It is a very nice new canoe, but rather small. It was the only one they could get. The rest of us remained in camp, calculated, and cleaned the two small transits. We also made latitude and time observations. Our latitude observations (4 sets) [were?] within
3/4 0.75, the average being av. 58 degrees 50'. Weather still fine.
